NASCAR
Nascar
racing is a big love of mine - I'm glued to the TV whenever there's
a race, to see my favourite driver, #20 Tony Stewart (below left),
going for glory. Of course, any spectacular smashes or crashes are
a welcome bonus.
I subscribe to NASCAR.COM Trackpass to get all the latest news and
video, plus in-car audio as well as live timing & scoring whenever
there's a race in progress. This is in addition to a subscription
to NASN, which provides the live action on TV.
Living up to my love of the sport, I crossed the Atlantic for the
2003 Daytona 500, to Atlanta in October '04 and Homestead in November
'05. I intend to make at least one Stateside pilgrimage each year
to experience this spectacle first-hand. This year it's to Talladega
in the fall for some goold old restrictor-plate racing.
There's a misconception for those who aren't fans of the series,
that oval racing is boring, or "easy". That couldn't be
further from the truth with a starting grid of 43 cars, each capable
of 190mph, and the majority of drivers in with a chance to win.
Packed grandstands for each race make for an excellent live experience.
